? on my exhaust

i have a 99 sport 2 door. i know i can use a 4 door exhaust and cut a bit off befor the muffler and reweld it, no big deal. the thing is on the stock exhaust there are 4 cats, and all the exhaust systems i have found everywhere take 2 of those off andreplace them with a straight pipe and leave 2 at the very beginning. and they all say 50 state smog leagel. so i was wondering how can this be if you are taking off half of the cats on your vehicle. that should increae alot of smog coming out of your pipes. therefore becoming non-smog legal. any personal input or info would be appreciated. thanks.

Unless your stock cats are clogged, leave all 4 and get a custom muffler and tailpipe install. You'll end up with more $$$ in your pocket and a good custom system.

thats what i was thinking of doing but i would like to incerase my hp at the same time, and i love to have a loud exhaust. if i get the pre made exhaust system thats takeing off 2 cats and replacing them with a bigger pipe and better muffler than thats alot of power im not gonna get with just a muffler and tip set up. so im not sure what to go with.

As long as your cats are still good you'll be the same or better with all 4.
