2012 Limited 4WD I-4, TR/Charcoal leather, luxury package, no bad cooling fans, no noisy a-pillar trim, no streaky windows, and no MFT anywhere to be seen. Oh- and 30mpg on the way home form work today. Nice. ;)

That is a nice looking escape Joe. Congrats on the purchase!

Financed- traded in the better half's '07 Camry. I won't see or drive the Escape too much I don't think, but I really really like it. Size-wise it's really close to the 2nd gen Ex for me. Less cargo room in the back, but it's not as freakishly huge as the 2012 Ex is. Just decided that I didn't want to get a 2011+ Explorer.

The Escape is virtually the same- 1" wider than the 2nd gen, so the cabin feels the same to me. :)

It's a Limited, so we got all of the Limited stuff, leather, moonroof, etc, etc... and it was also ordered with the Limited Luxury package as an option- gives us Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, the Reverse Sensing System, a rear-view camera and a homelink opener. I added the factory running boards for my son, and remote start for the Mrs. Will be getting a headrest DVD for him also.

Took us 4 days of searching and a color change to get when we ended up wanting. Really happy.

Yes, Deuce is still in the driveway, and staying put. :)

Whoa whoa whoa! 30mpg in a 4wd?? How much smaller is that than an '11?

I like it.

The sticker on ours is 20/27 but in 2 days of city we average about 24, and highway is 28-31. I drive like my Dad though... ;) The hybrid is 34/31 but the electric cuts off at 44mph, and a majority of our driving is over 55 so we went with the regular gas engine since it would take to long to recover the cost difference.

Here is a comparo, since I was bored at work. Aside from the obvious difference in rear cargo, the similarities are surprisingly evident... I lumped the gen 1 and gen 2 together, and the Gen 3/4 are together also, since they are so similar...

Oh- and Tim, here is Deuce. :D

Congrats on your new ride:chug:

Congrats Joe! I do like those escapes. I would have never guessed the escape to be wider, taller and have more ground clearance than a 2nd gen. Interesting.

I had always thought that they were tiny- that's why they were never even remotely on my radar. I was pleasantly surprised... Thanx!

Acceleration, passing, and towing?

Whats under the dang hood man? How does she do compared to the Explorer in these departments?

By the way, those numbers are startling to me. It seems this year is bigger than previous years.

Under this hood is a tiny I-4. :D

It does fine for what it is going to do, and passes fine- it'll get up and go, better than my OHV did, and pretty close to the V8 since it's running a 6 speed trans, if my foot is in it. It's pushing 171hp.

We drove a V6, which is 240hp- and it cooked. But, in the end, wanted the mileage of the I-4 since it'll be a road-tripper to and from Maine in the summer. The V6 was 17/22mpg. Didn't need the extra horses since I'd be towing anything we would need to tow with Deuce, since my larger cargo trailer would be too heavy for Little E anyhow, I think.

Same reasons I went with the same 4 cylinder... has plenty of engine for standard driving (ok, maybe not if you are drag racing or anything) but love the mileage! From browsing one of the escape forums, sounds like a lot of people with the 6 cylinders are in the 12-16mpg range, so I'll take my mileage, thanks :)
