One key opening two explorers

I used to have a 98 contour that would open and start my dads 96 f-150

The truck either had no passlock or it was bypassed.

As for the 2way alarm systems, becareful because if you use the autostart feature many require a key to be hidden inside the steering column so that the system detects the chip. In such a case they could start the car!

As for the remote unlocks, there is a good chance that sooner or later you will run across the same frequencies. My 2005 Durango remote key fob will unlock a friends Grand Caravan.

But, if you set the alarm on many newer cars and unlock manually with a key that isn't programmed to the vehicle the alarm will go off. Believe me, I dealt with many cars where they lost the programming and would have to unplug the fuse for the horn. Oh and they wouldn't start either.

I don't think in 96 that there was a chip in the key.. not 100% sure about F150's but my 96 Explorer does not have a chip. They key is too small...

As for hiding a key for a remote start, could you use an uncut key? Or even grind the teeth off it? That way it will not start the vehicle if someone found it.

Not the newer ones, worry if you have an old one, or if your installer tries to save 2dlls and put an older bypass...

Well I guess that means I don't have magical key powers, and therefore cannot be a super hero. I was really looking forward to the spandex too.
