Well, its another weekend so its play time on my truck. I was going to open my airbox in the front with a dremel, but can't get the damn thing off. i know there is a tab somewhere but lord knows i can't rach it. can i just cut in its location, providing the airfilter and intake hose is well outa the way? also there is this peice of plastic infront of the intake hole of the box, i think is used to keep the noise down. This in turn has a smaller hole. Should i remove this? Should i cut it too?

Personally, I would just spend the $90 on a KKM-True Rev.

I have a 5.0L, but my airbox is basically the same as yours. Just stick a prybar or a fairly long flat tipped screwdriver underneath the box and pry up. It should pop right out. Then pull out the side tabs. Be patient, use force, but don't go crazy. It's easier if you remove your MAS from the intake tube - it'll give you more room to work.

Good luck.

If you have the tools and basic knowledge you could make your own adapter. Its not very hard all you need is scrap metal nad a welder, grinder and also a sharpie a cork intake manidold gasket kit (5$) I made my whole thing for:

- 13 dollars for a 3 inch to 2 3/4 inch adapter i got at napa
- Filter (k&n conical 6 inch 3 inch opening
- Intake gasket kit napa 5 dolars
- sharpie marker ($1.50)
so
13+45+5+1.50= 64.50
