Hey guys... I've been playing around with MS Paint so this drawing is pretty ghetto, but y'all get the idea. What do y'all think of this setup? I would have my KC SlimLites Driving as my center lights and probably another set of KC SlimLites Fogs or Hella 500 fogs as the outside ones. I would just fab up a metal bar to weld up to the existing light wing (if you can't tell from the ghetto MS Paint job, it would the piece the the center 2 lights are mounted on that makes the "bridge" over the license plate). Anyway, Alec, sorry to gank your pic (if it bothers you I can pull it down) but you're the only X i've seen with this light wing.. Tell ya what, feel free to do this to your setup, any body else would have to pay me copywrite royalties ;)

Another thought I just had would to have the added bar come out from the front of the truck at an angle in almost a pre-runner fashion...

Do y'all think it would look better to have the center lights on the same plane as the side lights or to have the center lights stick out pre-runner style?

Or would this just look too out of place on a truck with only 4" of lift and 32" AT's

Pic ganker!

Unfortunately the Lightwing is fiberglass (I learned this after my first one snapped in an accident, have another one on order). Thus, you can't weld to it.

Fiberglass? Dagnabbit, they definately make it look like it is metal.. That kinda stinks... oh well, would've been a great idea

Hey Alec,

What exactly was fiberglass and what broke on yours... Every place that I find that sells them says...

Carr Light Wing
36" wide, cast aluminum construction. Use stud mount style fog or driving lights
Mounts to license plate holes, security bolts included.
Available in polished (shown) or black powder coat finish.

So I'm curious to whats fiberglass and whats cast aluminum... hmm, you can't MIG weld aluminum can you? (Don't you have to use TIG or something like that?)

I even called Carr and they said that the entire thing is one piece cast aluminum... do you have one thats not made by Carr?

Just proving how little of a life I have....

Here's one with the lights side by side if the bar is fiberglass...

I didn't really look at it well after it broke, it may be weak aluminum. The main plate mount is definately metal. The wings may be metal too, but one still snapped.

About the second config: Won't work because you'll block your headlights.

Yeah thats what I was thinking... thats why I played around with the pic to see...

Does anybody know if tack welding to cast aluminum can be done or would it screw up the piece?

I would probably have it welded to the thickest point on the arm and it wouldn't need to do much other than hold the weight of the lights and resist air pushing on the lights on the highway.

hey guys,

i was reading this thread to try to see if you guys were talking about a roof light bar. i am wondering where to run the wires from the roof to the battery or power.

anyways i was thinking...hokie, i used to live in newark, on the other side of columbus, and i know a pretty cool place that has some good off roading if you are interested in driving a few hours to spend a day or something.

lemme know....

look at the dates there hoss... this thread was started back when you had your lights on the roof and your Outland Sport bar up front.

Nothing beats the traditional pair of KC lites. ;)

Yo X, them some baby lights.. they 5"? ;) I just got a set of 5" Pro Comps to go along with my KC SlimLites on the front of my brushguard.. they'll be up and running tonight :D

LOL... at the time I got 'em I couldn't find anything big that would fit in the spot where I want 'em (see the bar right directly above it).
