Careful though- you can go broke really fast. I lopped off $250 last night in spring preparations...

Actually, $292.00 but I replaced some things that were old or nearly gone, and a few I wanted to try. It would have been much worse, but some of the items I only got 32 oz. packs, since I'm not professionally detailing on the side anymore, once my cars are clean, it's maintenance and a lot of them I won't use as much. I already have all of my compounds and waxes aside from the Microfiber DA products, but they're part of the kit. I bought the DA kit, everything else was seperate.

The polisher comes with a 7" backing plate and the system uses 5" and 6" backing plates and pads so i'll have to pick a size...Why did you go with the 5"? Is bigger not better in this situation?

I need the polisher so my bill will probably be pretty steep!

The backing plate on my G is 5" and you don't want any overhang with the pads. I've also heard that it takes a small learning curve to get the pad to work the right angle and pressure when working the system, which is hard with an overhanging pad.

I use 7" foam pads, but the MF pads are recommended at 5"


For a general decent cleaning stable, I'd do:

Not including waxes... I'm using the Ultimate Wax, NXT 2.0 and #16 currently. But, the #16 was discontinued because it didn't pass US chem tests anymore, so I bought it out of Canada off eBay.
Other stuff I stable- Ultimate Compund, 105, 205, #83, tire dressings (trying to get away from those with the hyper dressing) and a range of clay bars.
