93 ford aerostar 4.0 e4wd minivan unfortunately i got ghosted by that scrapyard I called about for the manual pedal assembly. Any idea of other trans that will and aren't a pos that work in the minivan. I am not wanting to put a a4ld in this and in another 50k miles have it give us problems. I guessing the 5r is the other option but after what happened to us with those I don't care for doing that either. Erg just venting that I got ghosted again. Any help would be appreciated!

the five speed only came with the 3.0 and two wheel drive.i have a 1991 with the 3.0 and fivespeed in north carolina with a blown head gasket but from what im told the 1992 up have a different pedal setup.

Transmissions that will bolt to the 90s 4.0 and are available in 4wd:

C5 auto (3 speed, 4wd version of the c4)
A4ld
Mazda 5 speed, m5od

That’s it
700r4 can be made to work but $$$$$$$$ not sure if the adapters still available

The earlier Mitsubishi and Toyo kogo 5 speeds found behind the 2.9 were not worth of truck usage and won’t hold up long behind the 4.0

Great makes things even rarer can you snap a pic of the assembly I'd like to see the difference.

The difference is the throw, or travel of the pedals. Where you located? It's not a big deal for me to throw a transmission on the catwalk of my truck and meet you somewhere near the interstate.

Also, which yard ghosted you? Asking so when I'm going thru the list on car-part.com to avoid giving them any business.

Masterson's auto parts and salvage. Called them they took my info down waited a week or 2 called them again and they said oh yeah those pedals where gone. I'm a bit far from Phoenix I'm in Wyoming.

I'm a truck driver, I get around. I'll check the yards here, my favorite yard usually lets transmissions go for $300 to $500. For the pedals, try calling highway 64 truck and auto salvage. (505) 598-5584 or A1 auto recyclers, these yards are next to each other. A1 has a blue van in inventory with a manual transmission. 505-325-1994

Zenish, your van needs a 302 with a T5 transmission.

Actually we had an Explorer we were going to go get for parts it just fell through cause oh hey we don't have those pedals anymore call. I'll try those yards tomorrow!

So wait I'm a little confused if it's just the throw or travel of the pedals. Can't those be adjusted to work?

No and to use a pedal from a different vehicle requires cutting and welding. It's been done and there's a write up about it too.

Malwood usa makes under dash hydraulic clutch pedals. Nothing for an aerostar, but with an adapter plate, one could be mated to the auto pedal assembly. I'm going to convert my 78 mustang to manual pedals with this setup.

Hey. Don't worry about it my pops and I are going to take it down to a reputable transmission shop and get the transmission rebuilt. Cause of the rarity of parts.

Whelp a little bit of an update we dropped it off at the trannie shop. It did well going down there, with little to no problems. Od worked for more than half the trip then the tc decided to try and unlock and toasted od. I'll keep you guys updated.

Well She is out of the transmission shop. Full rebuild w/12m 12k warranty. under 3k with veteran discount.

Now more work starts. But that I can mostly do myself.

Nice! $3k ouchies everything so expensive these days this is basically double what it was 10 year ago
