Out of state lease

I just spoke to a dealer in Michigan regarding leasing a '14 Sport. I am from NY and he stated I cannot lease the vehicle if I don't live in MI. Is this just a Michigan thing only? I know there are other states that allow it.

May be a Ford Motor Credit thing. Might have a rule about the lease being originated by a dealer in your state.

Yeah I'm not sure if its Ford or MI thing. I know someone that leased another make vehicle from PA living in NY. Anyways thanks for the response and I picked up a local 14 Sport on Monday. Ingot Silver with rear bucket seats, panoramic roof and nav included as options.
