Anyone ever done this? Does the shaft really just pull out of the front diff housing or do I have to take the cover off the front diff and remove some stuff?

It looks like it comes off the Hub pretty easy I am just concerned what I might be getting into for the inner part at the diff housing. Thanks

DONE! I will answer my own question. Worked out easy. First time I did it and it only took like 4 hours (with running for special tools)

Tools needed:
Sockets
Wrenches
Impact wrench
Ball joint seperator
large puller
CV boot strap crimper

P.S.: I like the replacement boot from NAPA better than the stock.

Right on....would you be able to make a list of the procedures to do this. That would help me out bigggg time

Dave, did you replace just the boot or did you do the whole shaft. I don't see how it would be worth it just for the boot when you can by the shaft for about 60 bucks and half a life time warrenty.

Glad you answered your own question, it's actually better when you figure it out yourself cause you learn better! A puller is a huge help isn't it!

Happy trails!!

I replaced both boots on both sides. I have since then had to replace a shaft. But a new shaft aroung here is about $90.

For procedures let me look I have writen someting around here about dropping the front diff and it is the same minus actually dropping the diff...

there are some usefull tips here:
