My '98 Eddie overheated and filled the resivoir. It was shut off and now won't restart. I am pretty sure the thermostat stuck but I don't understand the no start. Does anyone know if the computer has a safety and is keeping it from starting? I try starting and can hear the starter turning but it doesn't engage the flywheel. Any thoughts?

Do you hear the starter spinning, or is it actually turning the motor over? If it's turning the motor over, then you need to determine if it's spark or fuel related. If the starter is just spinning, then it sounds like the motor may be locked. How hot did it get? Did the motor shut itself down, or did you shut it down?

My wife was actually driving it. She said that it started to slow down then she pulled over and saw the steam (smoke then shut it off). I just hear the starter sninning no engine engagement. An engine seize was my first concern I was hoping however that with these newer vehicles that the computer would have a safe guard in it.

There is no safe guard for a hot motor. If it was running, and then slow shut itself off,its either hurt or locked.Sometimes the starter can get hot and fail.Few things you can check.
Try to turn the motor over by hand by using the crank shaft bolt,if it doesnt turn, take off the belt and try again,if it still wont turn either way,its locked.Pull the spark plugs out, then try to turn the motor over,it may have antifreeze in the cylinders. If it does have antifreeze in the cylinders, you have a headgasket/head issue. If the motor does turn without the plugs removed, replace the starter, and prolly the thermostat/antifreeze.
