I replaced my transmission this weekend, I was having some problems out of the trans changing gears. I thought it was the type of fluid that I put in the trans, but what I found out was, my OverDrive is stuck to the on position and won't turn off. Which is causing my RPM's to go up, and put more stress on the motor. I traveling from NC to VA. My question is. is there anyway I can disconnect to overdrive. And does anyone know why the overdrive would be stuck on. I have no light on dash, but when I hit the overdrive button, the light comes on, but nothing happens.

I think what you mean to say is that the overdrive is stuck "off" - which causes higher RPMs. Overdrive is when the input to output ratio is less than 1.0 - in a typical vehicle, I think this ratio comes out to 0.75 which means for every 0.75 turn of the engine, the transmission's output shaft is rotating once.

Yes, thank you. Is there anyway to diconnect the overdrive. so that i won't have the RPM problem.

Does anyone know what the speed senor does on this truck. and does it effect how the over drive work.

I believe the overdrive is stuck in the off position, what can cause this, is this a simple fix.
