Overhead console issue

The temperature display on my overhead console in my '02 Sport Trac only reads 140°F/60°C and doesn't change, the compass works fine but not the temperature display, any Ideas as to why?

The sensor out side in front of the the radiator on the drivers side of the truck is shot it is on the radiator support. It costs 15-20 USD at any auto store and about 25-30 at the stealership

what about if the display wont come on at all? the lights that are beside it wont come on either...

If the map lights and the display are off I would likely assume it to be a fuse. If the map lights work but the display doesn't then check the sticky from midnightrebel up top.
