I am replacing the overhead console in my 92 explorer with one out of a 2nd gen. I notice that the wiring harness is the same, but there is an extra set of wires that also plug into somewhere that are not on my first gen explorer. It appears to be a main power, as these wires are solid red and black, and it seems that the power for the first gen only was "hot in Run".

This is what I see on my old one, can anybody shed some light on what the other two wires could be on mine? I'll try to post a picture later.
EDIT: Sorry, I have determined that I am a jackass. I was wondering about the wires that plug into the lights. I answered my own question moments after posting it...

according to the link YOU posted, the red wire has nothing to do with the console

are you trying to run the mirror? in this case... you need to run some wire

Edit: I didnt see your edit

thats the rule of not stupid people asking easy questions in the interwebs

once you ask you figure it out and go oh man why the heck did i just ask that

its like a murphys law kindof thing

the other 99% are flaming over some crap no one cares about or watching ****... or both....
