Im not sure exactly where to ask this question, but here goes. I have a 96 Explorer XLT. The main overhead compartment with the Temp and Lighting etc. Well the Light on the right which glows towards the drivers side works. Yet the light on the left which glows towards the passenger side does not. I took it down and checked connections and it all seamed fine. It went for a long time with both sides not working at all. Yet last night I took it down and switch bulbs and for some reason the right side now works??? So I know it isn't a burnt bulb which is causing this problem. I then tried combinations of both bulbs in both sides and still on the right side drivers light works? Anybody know of this problem and how to fix it....thanks.

I had that same problem on my '95. I fixed it by sanding the little metal ring that goes around the screw piece and sanding the metal pieces on the lights themselves. After I did that I never had a problem. Try it and let me know if it works.

exactly what did you sand. There is the light with the metal ends on it. Then there is this screw thing that just twists to hold it in place. Then there is that ring that loose that goes around the twist base which the light sits in before going up into the light socket. Are you talking about sanding that. Or sanding something up inside where I need to take the overhead thing down and get behind it?
