- 03 LIMTED 03 PREMIER
Hey, to everyone in the U.S.
I'm currentley on a 3 month expedition w/my 03 limted 4x4 V8 down south
(southwest Mexico to specific).
Now I usually find my own answers to my problems concerning my truck,
with one big exception this time. My internet time is very limited down here, not to mention my funds aren't unlimted either.
So I've come to the point where I'm going to need to ask for help, which would be greatly appreciated, by the way.
I'm really testing my truck here w/the roads and mountains here, the roads here on a scale of 1 to 10 are about a 3, pothole galore, speed bumps every 5 miles and several if in a city, steep grades that dont seem legal.
all in all, some of the harshest enviorment a vehicle will ever encounter, thats if the vehicle doesnt get shaking to pieces before returning home.
As for the problems that I'm having, the tranny seems to be shifting very hard, both under acceleration and deceleration, a couple of weeks ago I had several things done to tranny before leaving, heres what was replaced.
Solenoid body not activating properly:direct and intermed.
cltuch piston seals torn:reverse and intermed. bands worn
reverse and overdrive servo seals are hard and stiff
overhauled needed parts:
8r37-7153-a kit gasket
1l2z-7g391-ae solenoid assy
6l2z-7a262-ba piston
fotz-7a262-b piston
1l2z-7a098-ac screen assy
5l2z-7d034-aa band assy
1l2z-7d189-aa piston-low-r
4w4z-7d021-a piston and rod
xw4z-7d095-aa band transmission
and mercon V of course.
Now that I got that out there, what I've noticed is that it still shifts like before, I had those parts listed replaced, so it makes me think that it might not be internal(tranny) since everything was checked before reinstalling.
All that hard shifting seems to make the tranny overheat if driven a bit hard or long.
I do have access to a couple ford stealerships if need be the case, because my biggest concern is being stuck down here with a bad tranny, so u can see how important it is for me to find some kind of solution.
And like I had said earlier any help would be greatly appreciated, I love my FORD TRUCK and not going to quit on it now.
THANX Ric
