Hello All,
This post is in reference to my daughter's Ford 2003 Escape 4WD.
V6 3.0L engine. Around 100,000 miles.
I need to replaced the RH exhaust manifold/cat (FireWall side)
due to a PO 420 (Bank 1 catalyst system efficiency below the acceptable threshold.).
Question: Are there any issues with using after market manifolds
such as (Walker #16410 )$435 or (Dorman #674-830) $659 prices are
from AutoZone just down the street?
Ford's is around $1,200.00.
Brief History
Middle Dec2011
Rough running/no power : Engine Check Light Off to Shop One.
Codes: PO-300 Random misfires.
PO-301,PO-302,PO-305,PO306,PO-304.
Replaced Camshaft position senor.

New Code after replacing camshaft senor:
PO-305.
Replaced cylinder #5 coil pack and spark plugs 4,5,6.
Running smooth no codes.

Between a week to week and half later
rough running returns and engine check light. Back to Shop One.
Code PO-301.
Replaced #1 coil pack & plug.
Running smooth, no codes.

Two week later engine check light comes on, but running
good. Back to Shop One.
Code PO-420.
Shop cleared code and said to drive to see if it comes back on.
Week and half later light back on. Back to Shop One.
Shop advised Daughter to take to muffler shop and have them replaced lower catalytic converter.
She made appointment with Muffler Shop, on way there Lost of power.
Muffler shop replaced lower converter. Running good, and still is
but light back on again.
Went to Shop Two (No More from Shop One).
Shop Two advised that RH exhaustmanifold/cat went bad due to the missfiring and took out the lower converter. Ho2 senors working.
Shop Two only wants to install Ford manifold.
So it left for me to fix. I know its a big job for a long weekend.
Any tips or advice ?
I read the post from xcbuc (2001-2004 Escape Removing Alternator).
