I just replaced the battery on my Explorer and now I'm getting P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction). No other codes, truck doesn't feel like it's misfiring. The sticky thread on the top here suggests a bad alternator could be to blame, but I checked my alternator it it's outputting fine.

I was however, getting and awful screeching sound a couple of weeks ago from the front end of the truck. It went away and I just assumed it was pulley. It only did it when the truck was under load. But now I'm wondering if it was the CPS synchronizer. But the noise hasn't come back. What symptoms might occur if the synchronizer was bad? Would the truck be running rough or misfire?

Truck isn't hard to start, there's no loss of power and it's not running rough.

To me, it sounds like something electrical is wrong since it occurred right after replacing the battery, but I've checked the wires and everything seems fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks
