P0442 - EVAP system leak detected

Module: Powertrain Control Module
Diagnostic Trouble Code details
EVAP system leak detected (small leak .04-inch)
Suspect loose fuel filler cap.
Suspect evaporative system vacuum or vapor hose leak.
This DTC may be caused by :
Poor connections
EVAP canister vent solenoid stuck open.
OR
For this system diagnostic tester must be used in conjunction with the workshop manual

I used to get this code about once a year, now I'm getting it monthly. Any known common fixes?

Gas Filler neck leaking
 












Bumping this thread because I may be moving to a emissions county in Texas and be forced to get this fixed...

Now days the code comes back the next cycle after I clear it.

I used to be able to go an entire summer without getting the code then got it as soon as the weather got cold.

This tells me the leak must be amongst a rubber connection...

I do sometimes hear a fart from under the hood when I turn the engine off if that is a clue...

Call around and price out evap system smoke testing. All they do is hook a scan tool to the truck to close the purge valve and fill entire system with smoke to find the leak. Evap leaks can be a major pain to find.
