2004 explorer xlt 4x4 4.0l flex fuel 112,x.. miles 5r55w (I believe) anyways I have these 2 codes popping up P0765 and P1717. The PO said the solinoid block was replaced a while back not sure how many miles ago its been tho.

The transmission downshifts hard from 2-1 and occasionally jerks hard into reverse and lags when shifting to reverse.

Funny thing is after driving it for a little while it straitens out and doesn't shift hard and acts like it should. Also the od light doesn't always flash and if it is flashing after driving it for like 5 minutes on the hwy the light stops blinking

I can still select between od off or on while its flashing too.

Any ideas? Maybe a dirty connector or do I need a new solenoid block?

I am not finding anything for a P1717 code, maybe it is P0717, this is "Input Turbine Speed Sensor no signal". The sensors are located on top of the transmission on the drivers side, make sure they are plugged in and tight.

The P0765 code is for solenoid D malfunction, this could be a problem with the solenoid block, but a problem with the speed sensor could cause other codes to set like this one, check all connections including the main case connector.

Thanks for the speedy reply ill check all the plugs this weekend. Hopefully it will be dry outside lol

Do you think I should get some electrical cleaner and/or dielectric grease to put on the main case connector and any of the other plugs?

I cleaned the main connector but no luck stopping the issue I'm having. I can't get Tue sensors on top unplugged so I can spray some cleaner in them.

Any idea how the come unplugged?

And do you think it could be the servo issue? Or does that throw another code other than the 2 I'm getting?
