Today my CEL came on. Pulled the code and it was P1151. Reset it, and it was back again 5 minutes later. It idles a little rough but not too bad, but when I hit the gas it sputters pretty good, and unless I'm full throttle it doesn't want to run properly. Everything I'm reading is indicating it's the upstream O2 sensor. Does this sound right? Also, where is this sensor located?
Thanks for the help.

I've been trying to troubleshoot a P1151 for months now. Remember that the O2 sensor is just the "messenger" and not necessarily the problem. I changed the upstream driver's side sensor on my '99 and the code kept coming back.

Did you only get the P1151, or were there other codes as well?

Anything else you tried to get rid of it? Clean MAF, etc?

Nope, I just get a P1151. I've tried lots of things. I do clean my MAF often and also swapped in another one I have and it still coded.

I'm beginning to think it's a lousy electrical connection somewhere. My truck was running great for a few days and then I hit a car wash with one of those underbody washes and it ran crappy right afterwards. Not the first time either.

Google the code. There are LOTS of Ford owners who get the same code on different vehicles.

My truck generally runs well, but it will sputter at idle now and again. 98% of the time I get the CEL when I'm on the freeway at nothing noticeable occurs when it happens. My mileage seems to have declined since this started in July.

Just an update for everyone...

Ordered a new Motorcraft O2 sensor, along with a O2 sensor removal socket. The angle of the front O2 sensors to items around them makes it pretty much impossible to use the socket anyway. I went to loosen it with an adjustable wrench...and it was already loose. Like way too loose. I replaced with the new one anyway, and it seems fine now. But just as a warning, I bet I could have fixed it without paying a penny. Before going out and buying a new sensor, check and make sure yours didn't unthread itself over time.

My sensor was in just fine. I wish I had your dilemma.

I didn't use a special tool at all. Just a box wrench to loosen and the rest by hand.

Keep us posted if the code comes back. I thought I had mine licked more than once (including after the O2 was replaced) and it came back.
