Yesterday out of the blue, stopped at a light, the truck stalls. Restarted with no problem. Driving at highway speeds, no problem, but got a CEL light. Checked with meter and got a P1309. Ok, I understand that this tells me to check the CMP sensor, however in reading the posts on P1309 codes, the people never say that their cars die at idle, just that the CEL light was on.

Could this be a DPFE issue? (no 1401 code however)

Background: 99 Explorer 4x4 4.0L ohv 150,000 miles.
replaced DPFE sensor about 1 year ago.
replaced battery 6 months ago.
Replaced CMP sensor and synchro (motorcraft) last year sometime.

It is VERY hot here in NC. 97-99 degrees, and the truck will stall randomly at idle regardless if the A/C is on or not.

Dieing at idle I would suspect the IAC valve. Doesn't sound DPFE to me.

Yes, it IS awfully hot here! Been in the shop most of the day trying to cure my wife's Mustang from overheating. It had the P1405 code showing on it too. I've never seen a DPFE hose nipple stopped up before but it was.

Thanks,

I'll certainly check the IAC. I figured that or some sort of vacuum leak. (but if it was a vacuum leak wouldn't it die all the time at idle?)
