Works for me, that's why I started my thread on it . I was thinking of starting a PA club as well. I figure we could base it out of Central PA, unless there is a concentration of owners somewhere else. I live in an area that's pretty good for 4 wheeling and I'm about dead center in the state (equally inacessible from all points ). I thought we could have the first meeting at my place (If all agree to it) Use this thread, or Dead Link Removed or email me at jsrdraper@acsworld.net.

jeff, i'm in, this sounds like a good idea. i'd be willing to try and help you with this if needed, especially since i know where you live now. by the way, i am sending you some good news for you in your email. give it a check whenever.

I'm not concerned where it's based from, as it encompasses all PA members, so wherever we meet is where the hub is for that specific date, haha. I just want to get the basic group together, and I'll make a temporary web site. I figure maybe if we could raise funds or whatever we'd get a direct URL (such as www.paxplorers.com). However, it's not as important as the planning stages.

We need to get together in a chat room and think about organizational processes. I hate the idea of president, VP, and treasurer, as we're spread out all over PA, and we should really be in one place if we were to run it that way. Instead, I thought about trying a leaderless method in which we all have a say where the runs are, etc (sounds like a form of government we all know fails.. haha... but we'll make it work).

JDraper, if need be and we need a central leadership, since we both had the idea, we could* use the idea of this site and have Co-Editors or whatever, but again, I don't like the idea of ranks or such.

Guys, the planning stages of this are going to take a lot of patience, planning, and flexibility. I'm up for it, and I know you will be too.

I am going to try to get a basic member list online for our eyes only (Dont worry, I'm not a spammer or anything...) to see where we're located and who we're dealing with.

adam, i just sent you an email with all my info, but i have a suggestion about the name. i have friends with ford probes that are all members of the online probe community (just like we are with the online explorer community) and have regionalized club names, like NEPO = NorthEastern Probe Owners (and yes, i did say 'probes' believe it or not.) to me though, paxplorers seems a little too long. maybe something thats like an acronym, or something just shorter in general...PaX? i dunno, just thought id throw that out there.

whatever happens, ill be able to live with ever name emerges, but lets really try to do this, and not let it fall through after a couple of weeks of insincere interest. i think this could be really cool and beneficial in a lot of aspects.

The name's not decided yet. We're open to any suggestions anyoen gives us. I figure when we get a handful, one of us will put up a poll and see what everyone likes.
I am dedicated to this. I know you guys are too. The first stages will just take some planning and time. Jeff, I *will* be in contact.

AOL blocks some mail services (like hotmail) automatically due to the high spam rate. I don't know if yours is one, but do this, send your e-mail to me. That's a backup e-mail address that I use for occasions like this. Also, edit your post so that your phone number is hidden. Just a little tip

I forgot to add: I like PaX but I guarantee people will question us if it means Peace. Now, I'm all for peace, but I thought we could use something that's a little more obvious to others that we're an Explorer group. Just my 2 cents.

We'll have to look into names carefully. PAX is also a cable channel, and I don't know if it's trademarked or not. (Not that I don't like PAX, it's fine by me, but if we have anything on the web, we have to cover our tails) I don't know what background a lot of you have, but unfortunately, I'm out in the corporate world and I have to deal with the legal crap sometimes. Too many lawyers!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to get serious. I just wanna have something we can all have fun at. We could call it PX, but then everyone would think we were some sort of military grocery store

Adam, once you get your list done, we should contact everyone and see if we can all get together somewhere to kick ideas around. I know school puts a crimp in some peoples weekends, but I have a great place for a weekend bbq. We live in the mountains and have a couple of acres to mess around on. It's a good place to kick back and goof off.

I was thinking of starting something a little more local to me (like a northern ohio), but depending of the location of most of your get togethers, I might be interested.
WE could call it like "Erie Explorers".I dont know , just throwing some stuff out there.
Pa. can be a long state to travel across.

Erie Explorers would be good for those from Erie, but like you said, we have a big state here and people from all over...

We could always do something like PAEX or PA-EX (though that sounds like a divorce lawyer now that I see it in print). Oh well, we can keep working at it.

I like MAX and PAEX. I don't want to alienate any non-central pennsylvanians, but what about Central PA Explorer Club, CPEC, kinda like the NoIEC?

Also, I like the idea of a get-together. My weekends are pretty well booked up for a little while here, with only 2 free weekends until after mother's day. However, if you guys can get a BBQ or something together, I will do my best to be there. If you guys need any help with anything, I'd like to help out.

I thought about something like CPEC too, but I don't want to piss anyone off either. We can cook up a name once we figure out who wants to be in it. I think Adam and I are gonna have a live chat in the next couple of days just to see where each other is coming from. Once we get a list together, I would like to contact all on the list and find the best possible weekend to have something so we can get this rolling. I don't plan on dropping this or letting it slip. Geez, if Northern Illinois can do it, so can we lol. (Sorry to any NoIEC people reading this...Just Kidding)

i just had a great idea for a name. i dont know if anyone else'll like it, but my light bulb just lit up and i like it: PennEX. what do you guys think. im not real big on ones like CPEX or ones that hint at "central pa-centricity", cuz im from around philly, and at school i live in state college, and i dont want to offend anyone, but central PA seems like the area that time forgot (i really hope no one is offended - central pa is just not for me.) but no matter what, the name is not gonna be my deciding factor of whether i join or not. seems funny to me that the idea for this group just came up recently, and nothing is together yet, but everyone is all worked up about a name. heh. i mean, what the hell, i am too, but, i dont know...just seems like there should be more important things to worry about right now. (by the way, i also like MAX, PAEX.) and a BBQ seems like a good idea for everyone to meet and get things rolling, but we should probably wait till it gets a little warmer, i mean, its gonna be april in a few days and its still snowing here!


oh, as far as a chat goes, would you guys be interested in setting up a day and time and we could all go on EFNET and join a channel and get all our ideas and thoughts out in the open? (for anyone who's not farmiliar with EFNET or IRC or any of that, just say so and i or someone else can walk you through it. its really really easy.) im sure i could also get a bot running on a server somewhere so we can keep the channel for the club.

geez, all these thoughts are just flooding my mind. heres one more. once we get a name picked, anyone interested in stickers for your trucks windows, bumper, etc?

i think im just too damned excited.
