I'm halfway through installing my PA883 in my 99 sport and 2 bolts (one behind driver's seat and the one behind that) won't go in deep enough... as a result they've not stripped all the threads off the bolts..

so what do I do now, should I try making the thread longer on the 2 bolts I've got left? or do I replace the body bushings underneath and try again? or go for slightly shorter bolts?

They're 180mm long and only threaded for a short portion at the beginning...

I am stuck if I can't get this sorted out, I'll never get a safety...

Not sure, but it sounds like you are running out of threads before the bolt is all the way in?

I used a 1/2 inch drill bit and drilled all of my body mount out, and then put lock nuts on each of the bolts. The nuts are 12mm 1.75 and the bolts that came in my kit were more then long enough to do it.

I could do it that way, or could I just use 2 bolts that have threads all the way down? or would that not work?

I didn't re-use any of the bolts.. i didn't think they'd be long enough..

got 160mm bolt to work at front of cargo area, but rearmost bolt isn't long enough to work behind front seat..

If i remember correctly i used some of the old bolts aswell.

I used old bolts also, I didn't have to go to the store once. Haha.

As rusty as mine was, I didn't trust the threads or the old bolts.

bolts

Getting ready to do mine in a week or so. I planned to just toss the old bolts (Im in OH and I am sure they are rusted) Figure I will need to cut some off when removing the old anyway. Can the new bolts be off the self from Lowes or HD or should they be Grade 8 bolts?

Grade 8, I was lucky to have no rust on anything. Every bolt came out with some effort.

No rust and you are in Alaska? Must be all the salt we use on the roads in Ohio. Looking at my truck, I think the only way the bolts are coming off is with the sawzall.

i used the bolt list on the sticky and it worked perfectly, IDK what your running into. my bolts were rusty as hell, but i cleaned them up with a wire brush, hit 'em with some thread lock, and the went right in, no problems at all. i actualy have only the passenger side behind the seat bolted down, the BHS bolt on the driver side disintigrated in the middle so i have to drill out the bushing, yippie.....

Been there, and I feel for you. :(

This was my bundle of joy.
