Ok. Matt says the best place is to meet in the Walker Valley parking lot. He says its a great staging area. A good spot for me to unload the quad off the trailer as well.
What time is good for everyone? Some people have a bit of a drive, so I was thinking 10am.

10am is good for me!

I'm Interested

Hey guys,
I'm interested, but how long will it take me to get there from Portland? Also, is body damage a possibility or a necessity? I just put the first good dent in my Ranger a few weeks ago, and want to get some rock sliders installed before I completely trash the body.

That sounds good to me as well. Ryan, since you have to come this way, give me a time to be ready and we can meet at my place and caravan. That way you can get the directions and stuff and I'll just follow you.:D

Yeah the parking lot is the best place to meet. I wonder if we should have a barbeque or something afterwards. We could do it in the parking lot too, I think there are a few picnic tables (can't remember). Might be fun. :)

I'm not sure how long it takes to get there from Portland. Probably about 3 hours or so.

I guess I'd better get my new tires before then, eh? ;)

BBQ afterwards sounds great. I'll bring the charcoal grill and that stuff. Everyone just bring their own food, that way its easier.
I'll get directions for everyone tonight.

Three hours isn't bad. I'd like to see some new territory and meet up with some fellow Explorer Forum guys. I could always stay with a friend in Puyallup to cut down on the drive time.

Dead Link Removed

Find your way to hwy 9 then turn east on to the walker
valley road. A few miles up, a large gravel road turns right and goes down to the parking lot.

I'm tennative for the 6th

I need to do some repairs before I go wheelin again. I will have to let you guys know if I can make it up. I bent my axle pivot bracket, and am told it will take at least 10 business days to get a replacement.

Saw your Lake Isabella run. Those were some great pics. Looking forward to getting together with you guys some time and seeing some new territory.

Try and make it!!
I'm definitly not bring my explorer. Unless I work like a madman and put the fullsize axles underneith in time, which i doubt will happen so quickly...

Ryan,

If your swaping in a solid front axle, what are you doing with the old front end? I seem to be bending things lately, so am looking for some spares/replacement parts. Specifically, a 4" axle pivot bracket for the drivers side TTB. I currently have a Skyjacker lift, but any 4" bracket would work as long as it's straight...you seem to be pretty hard on your equipment.

Skyjacker will warranty the old one (so they say), but it will still cost me $40 in shipping to and from.

Let me know offline if you like. My e-mail is rodneybivens@yahoo.com

I'm going to try and sell the whole front end (diff, axles, radius arms, locker, drop brackets, ect.) together.
I had to customize my trailmaster brackets. Since I did that, I havent had any trouble. What i can do for the time being is give you a few pointers on how to bullet proof your existing drop brackets.

Your probably out of my price range, but thought I'd ask anyway. I just need a good excuse to upgrade to a locker and 4.56s if that's what your running.

How much are you thinking of selling it all for? What size gears are in there, type of locker, and how old is it? Are they 4" springs? Do you have extended radius arms?

brand spankin new diff with brand new ring & pinion, 3.73 ratio, lockrite locker (4 months old), customized 4" trailmaster dropbrackets, 6" skyjacker coils (5 months old), trailmaster ssv shocks (8 months old), superlift extended radius arms, warn manual hubs (1 year old), all ujoints are less than 2 months old, brand new rotors and brake pads. also, a new front right axle stub shaft. i beat the hell out of my rig, so i had to modify the dropbrackets. they do not bend or break anymore. They also do not kill my diff anymore (which is why i have a new diff-ask diffwackdaddy). I also fabbed up my own coil keepers.
i havent a clue what it could sell for.
any ideas?
oh ya, the shocks, drop brackets and extended radius arms are all painted bright green. adds 5-8 horsepower!

I'm probably not your best customer, since all I want is the extended Rad arms, 1 drop bracket, and the locker. The rest would just be spare parts.

I have thought of putting some 6" coils on in the future to run some 35s. Have you seen any adverse effects from running 4"brackets with 6" coils?

I will definately have to see how you modified your dropdown brackets. My pumpkin already has a small mark from hitting the bracket. I'm sure some longer bumpstops would help as well.

I thought the same thing...longer bumper stops! i have 6" energy suspension bump stops. i thought that would stop my diff from getting killed. lets put it this way: bump stops were not designed to stop the entire weight of the vehicle. so i learned. they didnt help me at all, since my x has a tendancy to become airborn.
The only problem i had with 6" coils and 4" brackets was my camber. it was a little out...not that i cared.

The folks at the roughrangers.com board are having a snow run this sunday, dec. 23rd. check out their board for more info.

So are we still on for the 6th?

Bring those hubs along. I might be interested.
