Mikes95XLT:

well thanks for the complaments. yes i put a few coats of clear coat on. its not hard to do but you cant go crazy with the paint or you will have runs. i know a friend that did that and he had to strip the paint and start over. BIG MESS!!

I think I'm going to do what both you AND Fishman did.... I'm going to paint both. I know Fishman used about 4 coats he said, how about you? How many coats did you use?? And how much did you sand? Enough to get all the chrome off?

i was going to paint the whole grill white but there everywhere so i wanted to have it a little different from everyone else. i sanded enought to scratch the surface then wet sand so it was fine. put about 6 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear. i hope this helps you!

Cool thanks... I'll have to think about it. You're right, they're everywhere. I want mine to look different from everyone elses......

hey no problem thats why were all hear to help one another. i want to see pics when u done!!

Oh there will be pics..... :D I take tons with every mod I do. I'll have to think about what I want to do, the edges or the inner grille thing....

hey, explorer 5.0, i really like youre grille too. nah, i dont think i got any over spray on the bumper, i taped like mad. i think thats from when i lightened the digital pic.

good luck with your project, mike!

Fish Man:

maybe ur right i took another look at the picture. just wanted to let you know because over spray sux to get off!

yeah, it really does. thanks

Looks real good Fish. One of the guys on here with the same color X as yours painted his grey bumper trim green to match. I bet that would look real good with how you have your grill sprayed. Leaving that chrone on the bumper and the chrome on your grill to set things off a bit. Just another opinion.

That's what I want to do with my bumper and lower valence thing...... how do you do that? What kind of paint?

yeah, ive been admiring his explorer for some time now...although his is hardcore street, which im not sure if i want to do yet. oh well, maybe some day all my grey stuff will be green, we'll see ;)

I think I'm going to do the inner grille this weekend I've decided. I like the contrast of the chrome on blue... I also talked to Hartman and he told me how to do the trim, so I might take a shot at all that over my X-mas break.....

sweet!! let us know how it comes out!

hey I plan to paint mine black but it has a hole the size of a quarter in it. What could I use to patch it up.Could use suggestions. I know how to take it off just need to patch the hole and paint it. A crappy new one costs like $300 dollars.

Do you have a hole in the valance? Just curious. I have one there too. What caused yours if that is what you are talking about? Mine was a blown fog light bulb that melted through the harness and then through the valance

just to clarify, Im talking about my grill with the ford logo on it
