Painting the Rims

Ok the rims im getting are older white rims, if i wanna paint them, is it the same concept painting a car?

Sand, Prime, Paint, Clear coat?

Yup. Or, do it right and get them powder coated for about $100 each wheel.
 












so far the first one looks good, cant tell it was painted, i sanded hell out of them first ones done and you cant tell it was white...

well i sanded with a metal sanding wheel for hours... then got all rust and lose free paint... THICK and i mean 1.5 can each of Black Rust Preventive Paint and 1 Can each of Rim Clear Coat... been in gravel, pavement, mudd, no problems what so ever they are still looking good. (would look better with center caps in the back, lol)

Wow, I wouldn't have imagined they could look as good as they do now if I had seen the wheels before they were painted first. Nice job.
