Hi guys. I don't have a parking brake indicator light that comes on with the parking brake. I suspect the trouble is a blown bulb. Can anyone tell me where it is located, and how hard it is to change? I just bought the X recently. Thanks.

Unless they moved it since 97, it should be just below the ' 0 ' on the tachometer. I haven't had to replace any bulbs myself, but I believe that you will need to remove the gauge cluster. I think there is a writeup on it by someone who changed to white face gauges. You could search for it.

Before you start tearing things apart, check the back of the park brake pedal, and see if the electical connection is plugged in.

I had a bronco II with the same problem, and the electrical connection came off. Plugged it back in and everyting was ok. If that is not the problem, it might be the switch itself. I doubt that it is the bulb, if you have a 2000 model.

Thanks for the replies, VOATMJ1 and Dogfriend. The trouble was indeed in the switch. I checked the plug (it was plugged in), and gave it a good shot of WD-40. It now works.:D I am a happy puppy now that I don't have to remove the gauge cluster!

Thanks.:bounce:

Glad I could help!

Yeah heh...anything requiring removing the dash-board on a Gen II. is a pain in the neck.

Good going! I was going to take my dash apart for I thought that it had to be the brake light. Today I had the car remote started and i went in and turn the key, to my suprise the brake light came on. That prove that it was not the bulb, so I did the search and found you guys simple solution. Thanks
