*Not sure if this should be in stock or modified section...modified truck, stock parts*

A couple of nights ago I went out offroading, and pretty much right from the start my parking brake light on the gauge cluster started flashing randomly. I didn't notice a pattern or rhythm to the flashing, and I couldn't tell if it would light up when the rear suspension drooped or compressed because of how fast we were driving and bouncing around. My first thought was that when the rear suspension would droop it would pull the cable tight and trigger the light. But on my way home, on pavement, i had to stop short for a traffic light and the light came on for a second when stopping. Not sure if that was triggered by me stepping on the brakes, or the front end squatting and the rear lifting up.

My truck is lifted somewhere around 4" in the back, so the cable might be pulled tighter than it should because of that, but i've never had this problem before. I didn't feel the brakes actually engaging when the light flashed, so it might not be anything to really worry about. Don't think my parking brake has really been working the past few years anyway. Just curious if anyone has any ideas of what's happening.

Hey man. My truck isn't lifted so I don't know if it's the same problem. When mine did it, it was just low brake fluid.

Low brake fluid would cause that.

Hmm, I should check that out then. I've been meaning to change the brake fluid and check everything anyway.

deff low brake fluid. had this on my 98 97 and 03. If your brake pads are low, the light will come on when u get on the brakes.

Would the same thing happen if the rotors are really thin? I know my front brake pads are still good, but the rotors are too thin to be turned down anymore, but i didn't have the funds to replace them last time. I haven't checked out the rear pads in a little while, but they were replaced the same time the fronts were so they should still be good.
