Long story, short. My 2002 X 4wd was driven for about 3 miles with the parking brake set. Now the parking brake doesn't work on anything more than a slight grade. I;m getting ready to dig into it tonight.
Anybody got any advice? Besides don't let women drive my truck.:p:

I'm picking up new parking brake shoes on the way home tonight in case I need them. Is there any kind of adjustment on the parking brake itself?

There should be a cable adjustment where the cables come together. I doubt your brake shoes are bad if your brakes still work fine. Something may have just gotten bent and stuck. Good luck and let me know what you find.

Well it depends, he may have disc brakes in the back, but on the inside of the rotor there are normally mini brake shoes that work at the emergency brake.

These probably just got worn down pretty good, I'd try readjusting the cable first and making it tighter, thus setting the parking brake. Try that first before tearing it apart.
