Hello,
THe other day when I was taking off the parking break, I felt something hit my leg! (AHHHH) - anyway, i found the piece on the floor and couldn't figure out where it came from. I just went to ford with the piece and got a new one for $0.87 (not too bad).

Well, i got it home and i still couldn't figure out where it went. Just wondered if anybody had a good idea!
Ford Part Number : F4TZ-2L780-C
Description: WEDGE

I didn't get a good worker because I asked about 5 times where it came from and all he said was that it came from the parking break!

Thanks for any help!
John

ahhh - i just realized that i misspelled all the "brake's" in my post - sorry

Is it a rubber stop?

nope - its a little plastic piece about an inch long and half an inch wide. We checked to make sure that the stops are in place.

The wedge is from a old recall ford had on the parking brake mechanism. I don't remember the recall number but try calling your ford dealer.

without that little wedge in there, the parking break will sometimes "snap" and the pedal will go to the floor. if this happens, release it and put the break on again. im not sure how the piece goes in there, but i had the same problem in my old ranger which was covered under the same recall. good luck!

Thats the one! - I asked the Ford people about that too - they said that I missed the recall. But I got the part for 87 cents! So I decided to try to put it in myself. I can't figure out how it goes in. My Ford shop manual didn't even have it - I spent 4 hrs searching it last night.

THanks
John
