Parting out – 1996 Ford Explorer 5.0 4x4

I am parting out my Explorer because the motor has a rod knock. As of right now it still drives. In the coming weeks I will be removing the motor and all associated electronics and controls for some other projects I am working on. We have been driving this as a daily driver for a few years now. It has 155K miles on it. The body has allot of minor rust issues so I doubt that any of the body related components are worth anything to anyone.

What is not for sale:
- Motor and all its accessories/electrical including harness and computer.
- Battery
- Rear windshield wiper assembly

I will list individual items for sale here as I get price/condition requests.

What is for sale:
- Tires/wheels Goodyear Wrangler Armortrac P235/75R15 $125: The tires are in decent shape with 9/64 thru 3/16 tread left. All hold air for months on end. The rims are stock Explorer and are in OK shape. The center caps are poor condition due to the chrome peeling off of them.
- 4R70W transmission/torque converter/flex plate $250: It is the factory original as far as I know. It has always operated flawlessly and in the entire time I have owned this truck it has never needed any fluid. The couple times I have towed with this rig the trans temp always stayed stable at about 10° less than the motor temp.
- Front/rear seats $80: The leather is in good condition. This is the light gray interior. The drivers front seat side cover is broken off of the side of the framework.
- Anything else you can think of that is not on this list.

I do not want to disable this vehicle until I go to remove the motor, but I will take a small deposit for any items that would disable in advance. I have full tools available and I am willing to remove or at least help remove any items.

Shipping:
I am willing to ship items from Chatsworth CA 91311 (NW corner of San Fernando Valley) for actual shipping costs. You will need to figure out the shipping costs. If I need to crate anything some packing charges will need to be agreed upon. Also I frequently travel from Chatsworth to Camarillo. I also occasionally go to San Diego. I can probably arrange for transportation within those routes for no to minimal costs.

I will update this post with any/all information so that you do not have to sift thru multiple pages are crap to get the current information.

This is cross posted.

My preference is to be contacted by e-mail, but text and phone calls are OK too.

After realizing that I did not have a need for the transmission I moved it over to the "for sale" side.

What about the upper fuel filler neck? Mine is rusted out and looking for a clean replacement.

There is some surface rust, but nothing structural. I moved it around a bit by hand and it feels secure. If I needed one on my Mountaineer I'd run this one, but I would have trouble calling it "clean".

$10 plush shipping.

Looks like it would fit in a USPS medium or large flat rate box. Probably cheaper to just box it and ship it normal thru USPS though. It looks to be pretty light. Here are a couple pics of the filler neck:

Does the sub and box still work? If so, what's your price? I'm looking at putting one in my Sport that has a piss-poor audio system.
Also, what gauge of wire runs to the sub?

Seats look good I will take them. You ever make it out towards Ontario airport?
Thanks, Nathan

Not really, but my son may be able to pack these in to his car on a trip down to San Diego in the coming weeks. Let me check with him.

You should have the filler neck waiting for you at home either today or tomorrow. If it isn't there by tomorrow let me know and we can track it.

are the tires and wheels 125 a piece? or for the set?

Its for the set. I did notice as I was removing the filler neck that the inside of the driver rear is warn pretty thin. Like they were ran on the front of a poorly aligned rig for a while. When I bought these I probably noticed and that is why it is installed on the rear.

Now that I pointed it out you should be able to see what I am talking about.
