Hey everyone, ok I have a 4.0 from a 98 mazda b4000 and I'm looking at putting it in my explorer cause the motor is almost shot in it. But I'm wanting to get the 422 cam for it before it goes into the explorer. I just need to know what other parts are needed? I've read that I need dual valve springs and that they need to be machined to fit the heads does anyone know the cost of this as well? Thanks in advance.

given that its a ohv you need comp cams daul springs(part#988-12),you can use stock retainers, and get comp cams rocker assembly with longer pushrods(5.525)part #f40.if you live in a stat that has inspection the 422 wont pass so something to think about and if you aren't pushing alot of rpm the 410 maybe will be better for you.but at any rate there is a guy that might be selling stainless valves, dual springs, rocker and pushrods.if you go 410 you shouldn't need the dual springs even though comp cams says you do,but you will need new stock ones.i ran dual springs with my 410 because comp cams said to plus its around the same price of new stock springs.i paid less than a $100 bucks for my machine work to fit the 988 springs, the cam and rockers are what cost alot but like i said get a hold of maximum violence and see what he has and may sell you.hes a good guy and may take care of you. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=16158

o and you know unless your just changing the heads your going to have to change alot to get that 98 to fit in the 92.
