There doesn't seem to be many good write ups on replacing mechanical parts on these trucks. So I'm starting a thread on the things I've replaced, and how to do it. Feel free to add in. Everything I've done was on an 02 V8 4x4 Eddie Bauer.

POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT
You will need:
-complete 3/8 inch drive metric/standard socket set ( I used 8, 10, 13, and I think 16mm to do the whole job)
-18 or 19mm wrench (i forget)
-1/2 inch drive breaker bar
-pulley removal tool (not the jaw type. Autozone has the pulley removal tools for $29 and it comes with a lot better pulley installer tool than the one supplied with the pump. Keep your slip, and return it later.)
-4 quarts of power steering fluid (the system seems to hold less than one, but I used 4 to flush it a couple times.
-Vice grips or channel locks (for removal of hoses)
- Jack, Jack stands, Tire Iron.

1- Remove upper radiator hose for ease of belt removal, but do not remove belt
2- Remove lower radiator hoses below oil filter and allow radiator to drain. Remove power steering reservoir.
3- Jack up truck and remove drivers side tire
4- Remove splash guard in drivers side fender well, held in by 4 cheesy press in connector thingys.
5- Disconnect both lines going to power steering cooler mounted on front cross member. Allow oil to drain.
6- Use pulley removal tool to remove pulley. I had to jam a screw driver through the holes in the pulley to keep it from spinning. But leaving the belt on will aid in keeping the pulley from spinning while removing.
7- Once pulley is close to being removed, use 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, inserted into tensioner pulley to remove belt.
8- Finish removing pulley
9- Using an 18mm wrench, go underneath truck and remove high pressure line going into power steering pump.
10- Going through wheel well, remove both upper bolts on pump using 13mm socket. There is also a ground wire and some random bracket held on these bolts by the same size nut. Remove also.
11- Remove 10mm bolt on bottom of pump from underneath truck that is directly behind high pressure line connection.
12- Drink victory beer for finishing removal. It took me 8 hours to figure out this procedure.
13- Re mount pump with the 3 bolts, and reconnect high pressure line.
14- Re mount pulley. Make sure it lines up with the idler pulley mounted directly next to it.
15- Re connect belt and radiator hoses.
16- Re mount reservoir
17- Fill radiator and power steering reservoir.
18- (disclaimer: this is how I bled power steering system, and is how the Haynes manual says to do it. Kinda.) Start truck, and turn wheel 1/4 turn right and left from straight. Shut off truck. Re fill power steering reservoir. Start truck back up and turn lock to lock left to right a few times. Re fill.
19- If you wish to "flush" the system, repeat the last step a few times, except after you refill reservoir and start the truck, shut off and disconnect the lines going into power steering cooler and allow to drain. I did it 3 times, and the fluid coming out was almost the same color as new fluid.
20- Drink victory beer.

More to come: Alternator, Front wheel bearings, RB 3 inch lift, Brown wire mod. I'm too tired now to continue.
