Ok.. so my new 2004 XLT has "passenger assist handles" at all three doors...
but what about ME, the driver??!!

Does anyone know if there is an optional or aftermarket assist handle able to be installed for the driver side door (specifically in a 2004 XLT) ???

Thanks for any tips.

I assume it is so you have your hands on the wheel when driving, and not holding the handle. It seems silly, but they probably want to ensure that there are no 'temptations' when you're driving.

lol i have never heard of them refferd to as passenger assist handles just the OH **** handles

Unless the Piller has the welded support bracket with welded nuts attached is not feasable IMO

what you have no welder or metal or imagination??? make it work... you could also get the older cieling style handles... ya know I might just have to put one in my grandma's van... that's not a bad idea...

Ok..
WHERE would i get cieling mount ones.. how do i know what to look for, and would i have to do custom welding i suppose ?

my old acura used to have on on the driver's side and i used to hang my left hand from it all the time (elbow on the window sill, fingers on the handle) it was really comfortable on long trips :)

i mean who drives with 2 hands anyway?

You could order piller handles from ford and perhaps cieling mount them, I have them on my trac, the wife uses hers to get in and out, I hate the drivers side as it blocks my side vision
Bear in mind if it is used as intended it needs to support alot of wgt, so it needs a steel backing plate and two 1/4-20 bolts, is not an easy install IMO
