I have to replace the passenger side O2 sensor before the converter. It appears that the connector is mounted to the top of the transmission. I can get my arm between the pipe, tranny, tunnel and feel the connector but I can't get a hold of it. Is there acccess through the interior somewhere or were they just stupid and mounted it up there? After looking at the others it appears that I have the hardest one out of the 4 to replace.

It you take out center console and pull back the carpet, there is a large access plate right above the trassmission in the center hump. This makes access easy to all the o2 sensors.
Good luck.

Too Late

S$!t.............I just got done with it the hard way!!! Wish I knew that before.

Good info,
Scott

I just got done with it. Because I replaced the passenger side exhaust manifold I just dropped the down pipe and that made it easier. Thanks for the access plate tip. I was looking at the other ones and was hoping that I never have to do those.

Found a REAL easy way today (before I stumbled on this thread :fire: ).

Passenger side:
Lift the vehicle enough to turn the front tires towards the drivers side. Pull the rear 3 plugs on the rubber fender skirt. Pull the rear of the skirt forward and drape it over the shock tower/suspension, out of the way. You will be working from inside the wheel well (with or without the tire in place). The O2 sensor connector is directly behind the passenger side cylinder head. Reach in between the frame and the fender well to disconnect the coupling. Using a 22mm or 7/8" wrench or O2 socket (I think it's too tight a fit, but worth a try!), go through the same area to turn the sensor out. If you attack it from underneath, the transmission and floor are in the way. From the fender well, you get a good 1/4 turn on it, much quicker!

Driver side:
Same thing on the driver side, but the O2 sensor is EASILY reached from underneath.

Enjoy your mileage increase!
