today my husband got stranded, one tow truck and a ride to the nearest ford dealership later will likely cost us $200. We have a 98' 4x4 Sport, great condition, but for some reason when he stuck in the wrong key it tripped the ANTI Theft system, we have no key pad as we just bought it used a couple of weeks ago. Are we as stuck as they say, there is no way to over-ride and get the vehicle to start?

I just bought a 2000 with only one key. Here it is $25 to get the key made with the chip in it and $45 to have it programed to the vehicle. You can use a standard key to open the door but not to start it as you just learned the hard way. Some get away with it and don't trip the anti-theft and some don't but the vehicle won't start regardless.

Have the dealer make the key and do the programming and I assume they can reset the anti-theft to get it running again.:D
