I am confused by the many acronyms.
A Ford technician recommended I replace the PCM on my '93 Explorer.
I know where the box labeled EEC-IV is located on the passenger's side.
Is the EEC the same as a PCM or is there a different box called PCM?

PCM = Powertrain Control Module aka the computer (sometimes also called ECM or ECU)

EEC = Electronic Engine Control which is a Ford specific name for the Fuel Injection/ Engine Control / Emission Control System. This includes the computer, the sensors and actuators for the whole engine.

Your 93 has an EEC-IV system, later years like my 97 have EEC-V.
