Hi,
I just had the Check Engine light some on and I want to start by replacing the PCV valve. I read the Haynes manual but it didn't give specifics. I looked on the valve cover on the driver side but came up empty again. Can anyone help me finding it and any tips for replacement. I'm the second owner on this and not sure if it was ever replaced. It has about 118k miles. I was told by a friend that the original valve was plastic and held in without fittings - just the tension from the rubber hose and the fitting...true?
Thanks,
Chris

Might want to put the search button to good use on that one. I've seen several threads on PCV valves location in the past. If they're anything like the 5.0 V8 location, good luck finding it!

Welcome to the site.

PCV valve is in the back of the engine at the center. There is a pressed on plastic Y and two rubber hoses going into both sides of the Plenum. Pull the plenum cover and follow the hoses. It is a PITA. Ford sells the hoses, Y, PCV valve and bottom hose as an assembly. If you just change the pcv valve you need to boil the old one to loosen up the Y connector. And boil it again to press it on the new PCV valve or it will split. The bottom hose and PCV valve are held to the engine by a plastic retainer.

Hope this helps
