Peeling paint

Stay away from painting below about 55 degrees. When I was VHT tinting my tails, it was about 60 in the evening but dropped to like 30-35 at night. I dont have a garage, so I had mine outside in a "thrown together" small paint booth just to protect them from wind/bugs/dust, etc. I came out the next morning and they had frosted. I wish I could have gotten a picture, but instead of being glossy black, they looked shiny gray.

Same thing when I tried painting, I even had a small hair dryer in the little booth I made, but the cold still overpowered it; paint looked like hell. Not glossy, just dull; and discolored.

The roof on my 96' looks the same way. I went to a friend's body shop to get an estimate for repainting the roof. He told me the job was going to be very labor intensive. To refinish it correctly, ALL of the original paint had to be removed by sanding down to the base metal. If any of the old primer/paint is left, the new paint would not stick properly and it would fail again.

BTW.... is it a coincidence that all our trucks with bad paint are White?

I am no paint expert and/or never have done any paint work. Why does it matter that the primer was dried too fast? Also What does that have to do with the paint sticking? <<,According to what the Body/Paint Shop at the Ford Dealer told me.

I have the same problem as you. The only exception is that my roof is now rusting in those spots. I am going to tackle that one as soon as it stops snowing in Fort Worth.
