Performance Exhaust

My 1998 XLT 4.0OHC and I are looking for a mellow sound. What type of performance muffler would sound the best. Do I have to replace the converter ,or can I just replace the muffler. I am not looking for performance just better sound. Does this affect the computer in any way???

No- you dont need to change out the converter, and no it will not effect your computer in any way. I went with flowmaster on both my trucks and have been very happy with that muffler. Hope this helps!

Which flowmaster did you go with and which size pipe? Did you go with dual outlet or single?

I have a Flowmaster muffler with single outlet. It sounds good. Not too loud. You will hear the sound only when you accelerate. In cruise speed, it just rumbles to a mellow sound. I like the sound because it sounds like a real SUV.
