Performed the transfer case "fix", new problems

I tore apart the transfer case and cleaned the electric motor, as the instructions on this site were very helpful! The plastic stop was broken, so I replaced it with some hose. Last night, I pushed the 4x4 button and wow it worked!! This morning it doesn't. It tries and clicks but then acts like it goes back or something. It won't engage. Before I did this procedure, nothing at all would happen. Is there something else I can adjust? Any clues what I can do? I can't get out much here where I live in 4x2! Thanks!

I adjusted the motor and could get it to go in 4 high today. I can get it into 4 low, but when I try to take it out of 4 low, it goes out altogether. Is there some trick to lining this thing up? I have been fiddling with it all day.
