I wanted to know it I could use the amsoil full flow and Bypass filter with my perma cool dual remote? and will it be as effective. I can by the filter threads from Amsoil and use with my perma cool. I noticed that the Amsoil has some spring loaded restrictor for the bypass filter. The perma cool does not have this. Will this cause the Bypass filter to not get any flow? I don't the budget to just go buy the Amsoil kit plus filters. Any information would be greatly appreciated. :us:

If this is not feasable I will buy a donaldson spin on filter and one regular. I think they go down to 5 microns. I will have to research it again.

Thanks
V

Anyone...???

Has anyone used amsoil filters with a perma cool dual remote setup.

This is a straight quote out of Sven's book..
"It is not nessary or desirable to use a dual filter setup on any street-performance engine. Wet-sump type oil pumps, even high-volume types, have a hard time trying to shove oil through a filter. This problem only gets worse when you throw in another filter. It is verry possible that with a dual filter the oil delivery will cause an oil starvation problem somewhere in the engine. It is best to stay with one high-quality standard-sized filter and change it regularly, even with synthetics."

Would be interesting to measure Pressure pre and post Filters to see if a gradiant exsists
Good Info

I am afraid that your idea would not work as you hope. Bypass Filters operates by filtering oil on a partial-flow basis. It shunts about ten percent of the oil supply at any one time and particles as small as 1/10 of a micron. The Amsoil Bypass Oil Filters filter all the oil in a six-quart system in about five minutes at an average engine speed equivalent to 45 mph. Your idea will not shunt the oil to the bypass filter; you would need a filter mount such as the Amsoil unit ( see picture ).

Your best bet would be to save until you can get the correct components.

The only advantage that I see in using dual FF oil filters is the extra 1 quart of oil capacity.

A single FF filter works fine in filtering particles down to 20-40 microns. To get better filtration, down to 0.1 micron, one needs to use a bypass filter.

Thanks Aldive..
Thanks for the valuable information.

CMFilters has a low micron (below 10) filter that is still full flow. http://www.cmfilters.com/spin-on.cfm. Now if I was unable to run amsoil filters then I will go to a cmfilter when I can buy one. There about $100 each. The refills after that are under $15 i think.
The amsoil setup is expensive.

As for the amsoil dual mount, I think the only difference I was targeting from the perma cool is the nipple sizes and the spring loaded restrictor that helps create some back pressure so the bypass filter will flow correctly. The Amsoil is clearly well machined and I am sure worth its price, but I cant dish out $200 and then more for the filters.

I was just wondering if someone actually tried the perma cool with amsoil setup.
If I was able to get my hands on one of those amsoil dual mount I am sure i could figure out how to adapt it to the perma cool.

I am trying to do things as cheap as possible without sacraficing quality and performance.

Thanks for responding

You can purchase the Amsoil dual mount separately.

Good luck .......

Thanks Aldive
