Hey guys...my pass side power mirror has some issues...
It operates left and right, but will not tilt up or down. I know that the switch is OK because my driver side mirror is perfect. The pass side seems to be loose...like, if you push on the mirror with your finger, you can tilt it to its maximum upward tilt. Do I need a whole new mirror assy, or could the mirror have come apart from its power hinge? Also, you can hear the little motor inside there whirring when you toggle the switch up or down---you just don't get any movement.

Thanks!

Since you can hear the motor going, I would assume that the glass has seperated from the mount, or a linkage has broken. I've never taken one apart, but it can't be too hard.

You could always just get a mirror assembly from a junkyard.

I made sure I put it in the same way the old one came out, the release thing at the top. As far as burping it, I filled the radiator until it was full, ran the engine 1/2 hour, checked it and it was not needing any fluid. Should I do something else? What do you mean by burping it?

^wrong thread???^

Does the mirror glass move easily by hand? Then it might be the linkages that hold the glass in place.

Yes, you can easily tilt it up, but not down by pushing on it.

I think that there might be a problem there, I will have to check mine and see.

there are at least 2 versions of power mirrors in the 95-01 models (excluding heating and puddle lights)

one version has yellow skews and black plungers while the other has white skrews and plungers and is mounted by a skrew in the center. the yellow skrewed version is mounted on a nipple that is forced into the cup of the mirror glass bracket.

you probably have the yellow version, as it was much more common. one of the yellow skrews is probably broken.

pop the mirror off be angling it inward. you'll feel the threads of the skrews binding... this is normal. use steady pressure and pull the outward end out while keeping the inward end from moving forward or back. you ill feel a pop, and the mirror bracket will be loose.

check for metal wires that activate the heating mech... these can break off.

go to the junkyard and find a bracket with matching skrews... replace it and line the mirror backet up to the mirror housing. pinch and push in the yellow skrews, and align the plungers and wires. when everything is lined up, push the bracket STRAGHT in, DO NOT PUSH AT AN ANGLE!. the skews ill bind, and you will feel a pop when the nipple pops into the cup.

hope this helps.
