hello all,

i was wondering if someone could describe the color of light that comes out of the piaa 520 fog. i have never seen them in person and the pictures that i have seen (none of which have been powered up) seem to look as if the light will have a yellowish light like a lot of fogs do. the problem is that i don't want yellow fogs. are 520 fogs not the light for me? i think i can live with minimal yellowing, but not full on yellow/amber.

thanks!!!

the 520's output is kind of a yellowish purplish kinda light. If you looked at it it'd look kinda like a yellowish purplish color :). If you don't like the yellow look, you could get the 520 SMR's which are the same exact size and dimensions and everything but uses a clear output instead of amber.

do you think the ion 520's would be better than the SMR's in snow conditions? i figure it might give better clarity because of the yellowish color.

i dunno???

I have read that amber/yellow is better in snow. That said I would still stick with the white/clear cause IMO they light up the road better. Even in MI I'm not in a storm often enough to make a difference. I just go a little slower for that 1% of my driving. Not worth the trade off.

like Bill has said, yellow IS better in snow (it cuts through the white to get down to the road) but the clear light is overall better in most other driving conditions so I'd say you'd probably be better off with the SMR's.

I have 520 fogs. The beam is yellowish toward the front, but white on the sides - so they act as true fogs in front of you but still light up the side of the road or trail in front of you nicely.

i'm looking for small fogs, but i want a yellow one. I have seen some that are very, very bright. the color is yellow... almost greenish. They are round, but thats all i know about them... anyone know what i'm talking about?

My friend has PIAA 1200 and 1200X's on his early 90's Jetta and both are amazingly bright. Look into those, the 1100 is a good small light too.
