PIAA vs Silverstar 9007

Has anyone done a direct comparason ( ie, a PIAA 9007 in one headlamp and a Silverstar 9007 in the other ) of these bulbs?

Opinions and thoughts sought.....

I've had both and my PIAAs burned out in less than a year. I havent had the Silverstars a year yet, so we'll see. As far as light output, the silverstars are brighter.

I dont think the PIAA 9007 bulbs are as good as the 9004, 9005 & 9006. My 9007s burned out in about a year 1/2. In other veh.s the above mentioned bulbs are still going strong.
I'm now using 80/100 superH superwhite bulbs by Eiko.
From www.autobulbdepot.com. Been in about 3 mos. Dont know how long they will last but the price is right and they are brighter than PIAAs.
I do have a high power headlight harness also.

I seem to remember someone doing this on the f-150 board... they put a piaa in one side, sylvania in the other side... I couldn't find it when I went searching for it but as I recall... the guy found that they were somewhat comparable, where one lacked the other made up for. The difference was PIAA warrants theres for a year... I dont think he said one was phenomenally better then the other however.

I can attest for PIAA's warranty. My father had a set of 9007s in his Legacy and they went after less than a year. PIAA replaced them free of charge.

FWIW, AutoZone/Advance Auto Parts have Silverstars on sale this week, $22.98 each, IIRC.

Glad I'm not the only one who's PIAA 9007s crapped out after only 13 months. One of 'em is still kicking, but in retrospect not worth the $60. If they were under $30/pair maybe.

Lesson learned: don't bother wasting your money trying to get the best of a bad design (i.e. stock Explorer headlamps). Go for the good stuff - bigger is better!!

Replaced regular sylvania 9007's with silverstars. The difference was barely noticable, and certainly not $50 noticable. Later i bought some el' cheapo h-1's off Ebay for the fogs. Silverstars are 3800k while the fogs are 4000k. Much better color and brightness from the fogs, so i'm hunting for el'cheapo 9007 at 4000k now. But even before i got the h-1's, I did a side by side comparison between regular halogen and silverstars, and was pretty disappointed. But of course, that's just my opinion.

I like that they're white in color, first of all. They're bright as heck, the light is projected pretty far out despite the poor headlamp design. They're also very good in the rain.

I just wished they made em in 893.
