Nice truck man. Why did you put a Dana-20?

because the stock bw 1354 doesn't fit the "bullet proof" drivetrain equation. Dana-20 = Cast case, gear driven, compact, and stout as hell!! My stock u-joints even fit the d-20 yolks. Np 205's are huge and the only other alternative would be a atlas , which i couldn't afford.

I was thinkin it was an axle, not a transfer case. I don't know what i was thinkin. Now i understand. (I'm a dumba$$ sometimes. lata

well there is the model 20 axle found on jeeps. Musta been what you were thinking of.

Nightranger

Where did you pull your electrials from? Also, what was the total cost for it and the actual time taken for the installation?
Thanks,
Pete

is that the t or j style t dana 20 t-case? was there even a choice, or was that only in the old jeeps. cause i know they had both types of shifters....

also, how much did the adapter set you back? i hear they are pretty pricey

I found a salvage 5.0 complete harness and computer with 20k on it.

Totol cost? I don't even want to know!! Since '97 i've had 3 different transmissions, this AOD being the best. I'd say i have around 6k into it. Did everything myself except bend the exhaust. Bought all swap compnents from L&L (headers, motor mounts, oil relocator). Custom brass 4 core from SUPERIOR RADIATOR.

It's the J style shifter. When i get that pic scanned i'll post it. The J shifter is a ***** to use. It did bolt up to the AA tail housing but the lever was in the wrong spot. Had to use atleast a 1/2" worth of washers to shim it out from the tail housing. ALso had to do alot of trial and error getting the shift handle in the right spot (heat it up bend, test fit repeat process 10 more times!) Basicly the J shifter needs to be tottoly re-engineered to make it work. The instructions said the T shifter is the one to get ( i just used what i already had).

If you get any adapter get it from James Duff. Advance sends them directly to duff but duff was around $75 cheaper, go figure. The adapter kit cost me $575
