Ok so i picked up a 92 XLT for $920.
155K on the clock.
Valves redone at 90K Front end redone about 20,000 ago.
Runs good shifts good. Leaks a lil tranny fluid but I'm sure I'l find/fix that prob.

OK so here goes... I'm considering Moving to VT, CO hell i really don't know.. some Mountainous area with lots of snow and ski resorts..
I want/NEED to get the truck as reliable and capable as possible before I leave. I realize It's an old truck and I'll be fixing alot as I go. But what i'm really looking for is direction for mods to assist in the areas I'm considering. I also hunt/fish/camp/hike/4 wheel, this is nto gonna be my 1st off road truck but I'm a little in the dark about Exploders. I've owned an 85 Toyota X-cab with 4.3,t-350 35's bla bla , a 98 dakota on 35's SA swap bla bla . I'm lookign for some Direction in this new endeavor..
O and Great to be here been reading posts for a few hours and looks like a great group of people!!! :exporange

Ok here's a quickie... will '02 seats bolt in RELATIVELY easily?

sounds like you got a good deal, first of all...if it has those auto hubs you want to swap in manual hubs as soon as possible because the auto hubs are extremely unrealiable and weak....just do a search for manual hub conversion and you'll find a lot more info than you wanted to know about it - is it an auto tranny...if so, put on a tranny cooler if you don't allready have one

Well i guees i shoulda put that in the 1st post... but that is gonna be one of the 1st mods... I never liked/trusted auto locking hubs. Hell i don't even trust a center diff disconnect! And FYI. I'm looking on 4wheelparts.com is there anywhere I should look fro the hubs that may be cheaper?

Thanks in advance!

hmm....it's around 178 here http://4x4cyberstore.com/website/warn_hub_ford.html...if you want to save even more money there is some way to buy the conversion hardware not in a set for like 8 dollars instead of 40...i think i read that somewhere else on pirate or something though

Hmm that's it? Just manual hubs? i mean I know it's a durable truck and all but DAMN! lol....

I was looking on here and saw a girls truck (sorry can't remember her name.. lives in washington...) Anyway... that's basically what I'm looking for MY truck to do.. Every truck I've had has been BIG and this one is to be no exception! but what gears am i gonna be lookin at getting if i goto say 33's?
And what is the tranny gonna need? it's an Auto BTW. anything else? new Driveshafts? I'm not gonna be REALLY wheeling teh truck.. just mostly snow, camping, fishing, hunting and light/med trails. O and I'm NOT moving to CO... gonna be in VT instead.
Also anyone know about bolting in newer style seats?

Thanks in advance!

You're gonna want either 4.10 gears or quite a few people go with 4.56 gearing
don't really know about the other stuff
Get a Superlift 5.5" suspension lift and 33's if you want to be like the girl you are talking about.

that's katie (snowexploder I think)

yeah, that's it

Ok thanks for pointing out katie... looked at her pics... :D
Ok back on track here....
Will I be able to fit 32x11.5's on the stock rims with 2" BL and the 2" spacer/add a leaf?
I can get a sick deal on brand new Pro comp mud terrains 32x11.5's but don't wanna change the wheels... looking for that semi stock look.

O and If I'm not making sense... just ask WTF are you talking about? ;)

With stock rims, you will rub on the radius arms quite a bit. I had my 32 ProComp muds on my stocker wheels for a while, then I just couldn't take it anymore and went and got some wheels with a smaller backspacing.
I don't know, you may not rub, because every truck is different, but in my case I did.
The stock wheels will be alright though--
Your height should be fine, 'cause I have 4" of lift and now I don't rub at all.

Yea i kinda figured that..
But I did just look at your truck and i like the way it looks with those rims...
Damn there goes that $$$ I had! LOL

O and also anyone swapped out the carpet for a Nifty or one from this place? I NEED a new carpet... shampooing it just ain't an option.

O yea and the leaky tranny was just the pan gasket... new one + fresh fluid/filter + correct torque = No more leaky!

O and is the front D35 a Reverse rotation? or regular? I'm seeing conflicting stories.

O yea and I also have 6 gmail invites if anyone needs one! :)
