I just installed a new pilot bearing on my 91. When tapping it in it went in a little past flush with the fly wheel. I was wondering if It is still Ok or if I should pull it and replace it? It probably went in about as far as this letter E is wide past flush with the fly wheel. Also when installing a new clutch is it ok not to get the fly wheel resurfaced if it is still very smooth?

I don't know about the pilot bearing, but definately get the clutch resurfaced. We did mine and it only cost like $20-30 at NAPA. It shouldn't be very smooth, it is better to be a little rough, just like when it comes from the machining.

I'd take the flywheel off and get it resurfaced. If you don't it may not chatter, or it may. And if it does you'll hate yourself for not spending $30 to get it resurfaced. Plus when you take the flywheel off you can pound the pilot bearing forward a little.
