Hello All,
Going to try to be as descriptive as possible.
About a year ago I replaced my upper intake manifold gaskets to solve my CEL issue. That I am glad to say fixed the issue.

I now hear what I can only describe as a pinging noise. I have replaced PCV valve, wires, plugs, you name it. I even retorqued my upper mani bolts.
Thing is, it doesn't get worse under load, I even hear it during deccelaration.
I'll take my foot off the gas and hear the noise.
I started googling, and found that in fact your lower mani bolts can loosen up.
Well, I tried that this last weekend. I retorqued the 5 bolts that I could get to without pulling the upper mani off. They were alot looser than I would have imagined. My only guess is the remaining 3 blots are just as loose as the other 5.

Maybe the pinging noise is actually a leak (exhaust, EGR,)? I suppose the loose lower mani bolts would cause this. My only other idea is replacing the EGR gasket, which I didn't replace at the time of the upper mani gasket job.
It seems to be getting worse. My fear is that its something internally in the engine.

Has anyone else experienced this?
