i have this head unit and every time i take out the CD the disk is quite warm. I found this alittle strange but didnt think to much about it...until i was reading old post that talked about them overheating and possibly catching fire to my dash...does anyone know anything about this?! or if i should worry about this?

I have the step down from that deck and it does the same thing,I think it is just the LCD putting out alot of heat, mine has been doing it for a about a year with no problems:)

I've had mine get hot enough it gave a heat warning and quit playing CD. I doubt it would catch fire since it shuts itself down from heat.

If it should happen though, hey Pioneer just bought you a new truck....shoot, theyd be buyin my whole family and friends new rides!

I highly doubt that.
PS
My 8400 also makes the cds pretty warm, but has never given me a heat warning in the many years Ive had it

i just noticed it says P8400MP, is this the two faced MP3 HU? I only got a heat warning after blasting it at like 3/4 volume for 2 hours while playin a cd. I think the 3/4 volume is what did it.

mine does it when i've been sitin with the heat on. It might have something to do with the internal amp. It gets hot just like any other amp, but their is no air curculation to cool it.

guys i believe this is due to a combonation of the speed of the cd rotation, the laser reading cd being on so long, and the internal amp

my panasonic would make my cds warm in the winter time, and my friends alpine gets soo hot it burns holes in his burned cds

Okay thanx alot for the input...good to know im not the only one!!!
